Meet Everest! Losing his sight has not slowed this sweet, smart boy down. He learns new environments very well and was comfortable in his foster home in no time at all.
Everest knows commands such as sit, paw, down and stay. He is very food motivated and enjoys snuffle mats and food puzzles. If his foster takes too long serving dinner, he will display an adorable amount of husky sass. He will ‘bite’ the air to demand food or a walk.
Due to his blindness, Everest cannot be crated as they make him extremely anxious. He is non-destructive when left loose and alone in the home. He will definitely steal your seat if you leave though.
Everest dislikes barriers in general and will paw at a closed door if his foster is behind it. Once the door is opened, he’ll go back to his usual spots to relax.
Despite losing his eyes due to an act of human cruelty, Everest is very trusting and friendly. He does very well in the car & at the vet. He is a great dog-friendly patio buddy. He enjoys walks and hikes and is good at loose leash walking. He’ll happily greet people & dogs on his walks.
Everest is unfortunately extremely uncomfortable around babies and should not be adopted by people with or planning to have children. He is very human friendly but due to being blind, babies probably overload his senses and make his environment hard to predict.
Everest will communicate his discomfort with something with a short bark and lunge. Things that make him uncomfortable are limited, especially considering his blindness, but include a dog coming in too fast and strong or having his food bowl touched while he’s still eating.
