This sweet, quiet boy is looking for a low-key home to call his own! Coming all the way from South Korea, he’s taken some time to adjust to life here in Canada. Gold was rescued as a puppy and spent years in a shelter before entering foster care with Welcome Dog Korea, one of our international partners. From there, he made the journey to Canada where he has excelled in a quiet and consistent home with his patient foster family!

Once Gold is comfortable with his humans, he will greet them with excitement at the door and will even stretch up on his back legs to say hello! He does however have some stranger danger when initially meeting people. He has been known to let out a little growl or grumble (especially with men), but can be won over with a treat before soon seeking out pets and cuddles. Consistent with his breed, he can be very loyal and grows attached to one person mostly. He likes to follow his humans around the house and stay close by. Once he’s comfortable, he will gladly show you his belly and ask for pets!

Over all, he has a low-medium energy level. At home he likes to laze around and nap in comfy spots, but also enjoys long walks (not running) as long as it’s not raining! He does get easily spooked by loud noises or fast movements, especially when in a new environment or with new people. He is quite nervous to meet other dogs on leash but gets better when someone he trusts is with him. Gold does love to chase squirrels, rabbits and cats, but with a tug to his leash and a call of his name he’s easily redirected.

Gold is not crate trained, but is house trained and non-destructive indoors.

His forever home would be with a couple or family with no young kids or other animals. His forever family will need to have lots of patience while he adjusts to a new home. They will also need to commit to continue working on his socialization. A calm and consistent household would be best for this sweet gentleman.
