Medical: Yuna has hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis, which cause her some discomfort. To help manage her pain and mobility, she receives Omega-3 supplements, daily Gabapentin, regular Cartrophen injections, and Metacam as needed. She also has allergies that are well-controlled through a special diet and Apoquel when necessary. Because of her hips, a home without stairs would be best. These medical needs are ongoing and should be considered by any potential adopter, but Yuna is absolutely worth it.
Meet Miss Yuna! A sweet girl, Yuna is very excited when her fosters come home. She dances around and “Arooos”. She’ll often walk between legs to get butt scratches, and will nuzzle hands for pets. “Greeting” can last up to 3-5 minutes; she’s very happy to see her people.
Once timid and shut down, Yuna has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate, and playful companion. She greets her people with happy “Aroos,” wiggles, and full-body dances, then leans in for butt scratches and gentle hip rubs. She’ll nuzzle your hand for pets and has just started giving little kisses. Though she may take some time to fully settle in, once she trusts, she forms deep bonds and brings so much love into the lives around her.
Yuna thrives with another well-behaved dog to play and cuddle with, and she gets along wonderfully with the cat in her foster home. She’s a social girl who enjoys chase, tag, and gentle playtime, but she’s equally happy curling up for naps with her furry siblings. Around people, she’s a “big ball of love” who enjoys cuddling on the couch or resting at your feet.
Her manners are generally very good, though she’s still working on a few puppy habits. She sometimes uses her mouth to communicate excitement or request affection, and she’s learning boundaries. She can be sensitive to fast movements around her collar, paws, or head, but with patience and gentle handling she’s growing more comfortable. She isn’t crate-trained but has been left uncrated overnight and during the day with no accidents or destruction, she simply naps and relaxes until her people return.
Yuna is looking for a patient, gentle home where she can continue to build confidence and trust. She’d do best with someone home most of the day and with another dog for companionship. Because she loves to lean into people for affection, she may not be ideal for someone with balance concerns. Despite her medical needs, Yuna is a true “soul dog”: loyal, cuddly, playful, and full of love. She has come so far and is ready to keep blossoming with her forever family.
