Meet Shelly! Saved from a dog cull, Shelly is a velcro dog and a professional snuggler. She happily greets her fosters when they come home, often times doing the cutest bouncy dance that you’ll ever see. A great energy level, Shelly is happy to go for longer walks but loves nothing more than a good cuddle at home. She rarely barks.

On her walks, Shelly has a high prey drive for squirrels and bunnies and if she spots one she will either freeze and stare them down or attempt to chase them. For this reason, we are unsure if she would do well with cats, though this is untested. Besides her prey drive, Shelly walks well on leash.

When her fosters are at work, Shelly is crated. She does well with this but her adopters should be prepared to give her time to adjust to a new routine.

Shelly lives with another dog in her foster home and prefers to co-exist, rather than engage in play with him. She is fed separately as she will try to eat the other dog’s food. She has shown some possessiveness over her belongings, food, and her fosters towards the other dog (e.g., she has growled at him when he gets too close to her food or near the fosters) but this has lessened over the 4 weeks she’s been with her fosters. She is happy to co-exist if resource management techniques are utilized and introductions are taken slow.

Shelly is a sweet, silly girl and likes to play with plush toys and destroys them to find their squeaker. She is a professional squeak-ectomerist and takes her job very seriously. “Saving the world one destroyed squeaker at a time” is her business slogan. Overall, Shelly is a calm, happy, and well-mannered girlie who brings a lot of joy into her fosters’ lives.
