Hi, I’m Apollo, but my friends call me Pollo. I’m a sweet, easygoing guy who is perfectly happy to sit patiently in my crate until my people come to let me out. I’m not one to make a huge fuss, I’ll wait for you, and then I’m ready to start my day!

I’m a medium-energy guy who loves a good game of fetch. I’m also a professional sniffer, so walks are less about getting somewhere quickly and more about stopping to investigate every particularly interesting smell. I’d also really like to say hello to every dog I meet because, well… why wouldn’t I?

I’m still working on my leash manners. I can pull when I find an especially exciting smell, and walking right beside you isn’t quite my strong suit yet. I walk with a regular leash and collar, with a slip lead as backup, and I’m making progress. A little consistency from my humans goes a long way!

I have a few funny quirks too. I’m a bit picky about my food, I’ll happily turn down peanut butter and carrots, but cheese and watermelon? Absolutely yes, please.

I also have a little evening “witching hour” where I can get extra silly and may try some gentle mouthing or humping. Thankfully, I’ve made a lot of progress with this, and usually a toy or some redirection is enough to get me back on track.

I’ve only tried counter surfing once, and I haven’t repeated the offence, but my humans think it’s probably best to keep an eye on me just in case I get any more brilliant ideas. 😇

I can be sensitive to loud noises like thunder, trucks, and buses, so a little patience and reassurance during noisy moments will help me feel safe.

I’m good with other dogs and love meeting them. I also seem to do well with older kids and really enjoy their company, although I haven’t had much experience with toddlers or very young children.

My perfect home? Honestly, I think I could be happy in quite a few different places! A quieter home would be lovely, but I’m also curious about everything happening around me and rarely bark.

I’d love a family who will keep working with me on my leash manners, give me plenty of opportunities to sniff and explore, and of course throw my ball whenever I ask. I’m also a bit of a cuddle bug and love a good behind-the-ears scratch.

If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate guy with a goofy side, a love of fetch, and strong opinions about watermelon… I might just be your Pollo!
