Hi, I’m Wilbur! I’m a laid-back 12-year-old gentleman with a pretty nonchalant personality. I’m not the type to demand cuddles or climb into your lap, but I absolutely love attention when it comes my way. Face caresses and massages? Yes, please, I’ll happily soak those up!

I have a few funny little quirks. I love playing fetch, rolling onto my back and wiggling around, and occasionally trying to catch my own tail. When I get excited, I make an unusual noise which sounds like humans saying “OW!” 😂

I’m a low-to-medium energy guy, and I enjoy getting outside several times a day. When we go for walks, I like to take my time and explore all the sights, sounds, and sniffs the world has to offer. I’m looking for someone patient who understands the value of stopping to smell the roses (and other things). I also love playing games indoors to keep my brain healthy and happy.

Sometimes when I see other dogs on my walks, I can get a bit fixated on them if I’m allowed to stop. My brain goes ‘Oh there’s a dog. Interesting. Wait, why is he here? Why is he looking at me? Should I yell at him?! ‘ . I just need to keep the forward momentum going so my brain doesn’t go down a rabbit hole. I do like meeting some dogs, especially when introductions are slow and controlled.

I’m not a big fan of my crate, but I’m willing to keep trying, as long as someone can help me see it as a comfy safe place. In the meantime, I’m just happy to spend my golden years close to my people.

I have heart disease and high blood pressure that is currently being managed well with medication. I am in the very early stage of kidney disease, but I go for monthly urine tests to make sure they stay as healthy as possible. Like many seniors, I have some weakness and pain in my hips, but my monthly injection of Librela is working wonders. When my hips are feeling a bit more ouchy than usual, sometimes the pee department can be less than reliable. No big deal, just a good excuse to sport a cute belly band. Lastly, I need to have a couple of teeth removed, but the rescue will arrange and pay for that surgery.

My medical needs are important, but they don’t define me. I’m looking for someone who will keep up with my vet care so that we can get back to more important things, like face massages, sunny side up wiggles, and keeping an eye on that dog who is staring at me and probably planning something…

Basically, I’m a quirky and silly little senior man who has lots of personality, plenty of love to give, and just a few opinions. If you think we could be a match, please apply for me today! ❤️
