Hi, I’m Ako! I am a very friendly, affectionate dog who loves belly rubs, butt scratches, and face kisses. I love humans and all of the attention and petting that they give! The only place I don’t like getting any attention is at the vet, but my foster is helping to build my confidence and teach me that the vet isn’t really so scary.
I’m a playful guy and I enjoy playing fetch with any and all of my toys. I’m a very food-motivated boy and love treats. I’m not shy about sticking my nose near food that you’re carrying or that’s on the counter, though, so you should be sure not to leave any in my reach.
I’m still working on my leash manners: I do pull strongly and will sometimes suddenly pull stronger when something catches my attention. Since I’m a food motivated boy and eager to please, I think I could learn to be excellent on leash with some patience and lots of treats!
I don’t mind being in my crate when I’m home alone and will just nap most of the time. In general, I’m often a very chill guy inside and have dedicated most of my time to finding the perfect napping position!
I would be happy in a wide variety of homes, with a lot of humans to give me a lot of attention, a smaller family, or even just a single person looking for a companion. I have a lot of love to give and just want to share my life with my forever family. I would enjoy another dog around as long as they are calm and well-adjusted, since I am more of a follower than a leader. However, I would also be perfectly happy as an only dog.
