Buddy is a VERY friendly husky (aloof isn’t in his vocabulary). He loves to lick you to let you know he adores you (and he adores EVERYONE – truly ‘Buddy’ as his name fits well since he hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like). He also has a love for … leather? Yes, he’s got some fancy taste and loves the taste. He’s non-destructive but we’ve seen him carrying a purse or two around the house. Lastly, do you need someone to help you dig up holes for your plants? Buddy is your guy! While this is a work in progress to focus his digging, he can’t promise that he won’t dig a hole or two to lay in to cool off this summer.

Buddy is SO happy when his fosters come home, wagging his tail and howling with joy. He doesn’t jump up but appreciates people who bend down for a hug and a kiss (yes, he’s a licker!).

Buddy has moderate energy levels. His first half of the day is his ‘rest time’ – he loves to laze on the couch, snoring away until after lunch. He tends to get a few zoomies and wrestling matches with his foster sibling in the afternoon and then is happy to watch squirrels in the yard until after dinner. He knows his routine well and once he knows it’s walk time – he’s ready to go! He is a strong, energetic boy on walks and wants to meet every human and animal ever. This excitement is being worked on with hand feeding slowly on his evening walks.

Buddy is crate trained. He reluctantly goes into it, but will stay in it if the adopter prefers this. Buddy is also non-destructive out of crate though as long as leather items (he’s got expensive taste) are kept hidden away. He also loves sleeping in your closet at night (aka his own personal cave) if you prefer.

Buddy is true to his sled dog nature and can be a strong puller on walks. Due to his love for everyone, he also has excitement-based reactivity (he’s just frustrated he can’t say hi to every single living thing on a walk). He is improving on this but it is a work in progress that needs time and patience to continue to improve. Buddy cannot be walked on a collar due to his ME (see previous medical portion of bio).

If you can be Buddy’s forever home, apply today. He may have a short life expectancy but more importantly, he knows how to really live.
