Adoption FAQ
Some of the most common reasons an application is not selected are:
➡️ Applicant does not meet the dog’s needs outlined in bio.
EX#1: Dog cannot live with cats, applicant has cats. EX#2: Dog hates being left alone, applicant likes to go out frequently without dog.
➡️Multiple great applicants, only one dog. Sometimes it’s as simple as we had to choose one applicant.
➡️Applicant lives too far from Ottawa.
Due to recent unfortunate events, we have put an adoption radius in place. The applicant must live no more than 2 hours away from Ottawa. In person meet & greets are always a requirement.
Unfortunately no.
Why:
➡️Time.
We receive hundreds of emails and applications per year. Even though it only takes a few minutes to let an applicant know that they were not selected, those minutes add up to a lot of volunteer hours per year.
➡️Manipulation of answers.
If we provide feedback as to why an application was not selected, an applicant can easily apply with different answers.
➡️Minimizing harrassment of our team.
Unfortunately, volunteers have been harassed over the denial of an application.
Yes!
As long as you meet all of the dog’s needs, please include all of the names of the dogs that you are interested in. If you are interested in adopting multiple dogs at once or looking for only one out of your specific list, please let us know.
Simply put, to find the best possible home for our dog! More information typically equals finding a better fit.
Absolutely not. If you can afford the adoption fee and can provide the necessities, including vet care, we don’t discriminate based off of your income. We have adopted out to fixed income individuals.
