Age: 11 years old
✅Dogs & kids
❓Cats. Untested.
Medical:
• Mobility issues due to being overweight and having arthritis. Metacam daily (35 kg dose) and gabapentin (as needed).
• She also takes Glandex, as her anal glands seemed to be bothering her (she was scooting on grass outside, like she was itchy).
• Lipomas or enlarged mammary glands on her chest and her lower belly. Only the one on her belly seems to bother her.
Jayda is an incredibly sweet older lab. Described by her foster as a ‘pleasure to have in the house and as part of our ‘pack’, Jayda is ready for her forever home! She really enjoys being near her people and will sleep close by while her foster is working, but also appreciates her independence. She knows what she wants and sometimes needs coaxing to go outside or get up if she is comfy. She mostly just wants to lounge and sunbathe, or enjoy the AC. She is coming more out of her shell with time and can sometimes be chatty with gentle barks to let you know she wants something.
Regardless of her mobility issues, Jayda very much enjoys sniffing and exploring. She goes on 2-4 15 minute walks per day and is working on shedding her extra weight, which impressive progress already made. Her adopter must be committed to keeping Jayda on a healthy diet and maintaining her weight loss goals.
Jayda is good in the car but needs assistance getting in due to her weight. She also needs a home with minimal or no stairs or the ability to install a ramp for assistance. She can do a few steps with assistance.
