Shelby is a sweet and loving girl who makes her joy known the second you walk through the door. She howls with excitement, rushes over wagging her tail, and sometimes can’t resist jumping up to greet you (she’s learning that keeping all four paws on the ground earns just as much love!). She adores being close to her people and happily soaks up belly rubs, snuggles, and sunshine naps.
She is very treat motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. She’s already working on “sit” and “paw,” and her foster family has discovered she makes the silliest little noises when she yawns. Shelby loves chewing toys and play-wrestling with her foster dog sibling, and while fetch isn’t her game yet, she is playful in her own goofy ways.
Her energy is steadily growing as she gains weight, and she’ll happily zoom around the yard before curling up for a snooze. She would benefit from using a slow-feeder during meals. Shelby does well on leash and enjoys exploring outdoors with her humans. Potty training is still a work in progress, and she needs close supervision since she sometimes tries to sneak things she shouldn’t eat (like crab apples or even slippers!).
With cats, she’s been mostly calm but has tried to chase, so slow, careful introductions would be needed. She settles in a crate when her people are away or overnight, though she still prefers encouragement to go in.
Shelby’s perfect home is one where she gets plenty of love, patience, and outdoor time. She thrives with human affection and would be happiest with a family that enjoys snuggles as much as she does. In return, she’ll fill her forever home with joy, laughter, and unconditional love.
