Rocky Road Rescue is a not for profit all-breed, foster-based, volunteer-run dog rescue in the Ottawa area.

Our organization is run entirely by volunteers who donate their time outside of work and family obligations. As a foster-based rescue, all of our dogs are placed in foster homes until they are ready to find their fur-ever families. Thanks to our dedicated foster families, all of our dogs live in a loving home environment while we address their behavioural and medical needs.

As a not-for-profit, we raise funds through events and fundraisers, which allows us to continue to rescue dogs in need. One hundred percent of these funds go towards the purchase of food, vetting costs, shelter pull fees, and other costs associated with caring for the dogs and the general operation of the rescue. We have many volunteer positions and opportunities available for those who would like to donate in some way!

Our goals is to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters and dogs without homes. We are also committed to educating the public on responsible pet ownership as well as giving back to the community by assisting owners in need whenever possible. We educate through social media, our events & the Learn page of our website, and also partnerships with other rescue organizations.

Our adoption fee is $750 for adult dogs and $950 for puppies. This includes the dogs’ micro-chip, all age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption, and sterilization. We also address any pre-existing medical issues such as injuries and diseases. We do require references and an application to be filled out for each adoption. As mentioned above, we do not generate a profit. We rely on adoption fees and donations from the public and from businesses in order to continue to save dogs in need. We thank you for considering adoption and supporting rescue.
